Wi-demystiFied

Faster, Safer Wi-Fi in Homes and Communities

Empowering the young to become digital leaders.

A hands on learning opportunity for high school students to explore Wi-Fi technology, improve its service and keep it secured in their community.

Hands-on, Interactive workshops

The project is an exciting opportunity for high school students to learn how they can improve the quality of service of their Wi-Fi networks and keep their networks secured from malicious intrusions.

Wi-Fi and access to information over Internet have transformed how young New Zealanders learn and interact with the world. While Wi-Fi and being connected is taken for granted, many young individuals do not have a good understanding of the technology and lack the knowledge to keep a wireless network safe.

This project, in the form of four-day interactive, hands on workshop at New Plymouth Boys High School, will enable the students to become digital leaders of their communities. The practical skills learnt from the workshop will empower the students to improve the performance and enhance the security of Wi-Fi networks in their homes, schools and neighbourhood. The workshop can motivate the students to pursue science, engineering and technology as a career leading to the development of highly skilled human resource for New Zealand.

A Wealth of Experience

The project offers some unique opportunities for partnerships and initiatives. The project team comprises Massey University engineering researchers supported by industry experts. It presents an exciting opportunity for the students to learn from and be inspired by scientists and engineers who are at the forefront of IT and telecommunication.
